Just as an FYI, the website called DubliReview I started to document my experience with the new online reverse auction business, has been changed. The Dubli company want more control over their brand so they asked those of us with Dubli in the URL to change to something different. I chose www.onlineauctionbuzz.com.

Corporate Escapee Starts Small Business

Dubli Review Website

New Business Opportunity

While business is going well with my main company, I have been introduced to a very interesting new business out of Germany. It is called Dubli. It has a fascinating business model that uses the idea of a reverse auction. (The price starts high and goes lower!).

Dubli starts in the US at the end of September although it has been in Germany for a couple of years. It went Europe wide in July.

I have decided to sign up with Dubli as I believe it could bring in some significant new revenue streams for my business.

I have created a separate website for this business which you can find at www.onlineauctionbuzz.com

Watched Monty Python favorites of the various cast members tonight. I always think MP is 80% drivel and 20% sheer genius. The 20% is what makes it worth watching. Unfortunately John Cleese's interview was terrible. He was like a nutter. It wasn't funny at all which is a shame as I usually like his performances. I have loved the various movies that he has been in over the years. Did anyone see Clockwise? Very funny movie. I cried with tears of laughter.
I have been trying to understand how to get my business site a little more visibility on the various search engines. Seems like content is king and so are links. I think I have the content pretty well done. It is at least relevant but I am not sure about the best way to go and get links.

It doesn't feel right to get links just for the sake of it without some relevance but then again perhaps the bots don't care.

Would appreciate any advice on this subject.

Logo is done!

Well, the logo is now done and the whole thing looks pretty good. Logos are such a subjective thing and it takes time for it to feel comfy. To be honest, its not where ultimately I want it to be but it will do the job.

Website is also open

Websites too take a lot of work and the one for my company is now to the point where it is ready for visitors. Of course a web site is never complete and it requires new content on a regular basis so it should keep me busy.

The web site is for my company Market Accelerators and you can find the site at www.marketaccelerators.com. Comments are welcome and I would appreciate links from your site where relevant and would be glad to reciprocate.

The objective of the company is to help companies grow. We do this by examining a client's business from a marketing perspective. What are the barriers to growth and what will it take to remove them so that the company can be more successful. I have a couple of clients already and it is a lot of fun working with them.

Anyway, check out the site and let me know what you think.

A new company logo???
Wow, designing a new logo for a company is a difficult process. I have discovered that what I like personally may not be what our potential customers can relate to. Plus the three of us who have been involved have different tastes. I guess it is somewhat subjective.

We hired a graphics designer to help us with our design and unfortunately we haven't yet arrived at the logo we like. We have a good direction for it but the creative alternatives we have seen are not making us very excited. Our graphics designer is very cooperative and helpful but something isn't quite clicking. Watch this space!

Wow, I can't believe Christmas is almost here yet again. The year has flown by but I do love Christmas. My eldest and his girlfriend put up all the Christmas lights and did a great job of it. Looks beautiful. I wonder how I can put some photos on here? We bought a tree and decorated it on Sunday and the kids did a great decorating job too. Nice to have such a bunch of talented decorators.

Still working to get the busines up and running. We found a graphics designer to do the logo and she should have some comps for us this week.

By the way, did I say the name of the company is "Market Accelerators"? Our purpose is to be sort of a "bolt-on" marketing department for smaller companies that don't have their own marketing expertise.

The website is www.marketaccelerators.com although it doesn't have any content yet -- but it will soon! There is also a blog which will be the main place I will put info about our experience with the process of starting-up a company in Washington state. The blog is http://marketaccelerators.blogspot.com/

We are expecting to formally launch in January but have had a couple of opportunities fallen in our lap so we are working on two proposals. We'd hoped to work primarily locally but these two potential clients are in other parts of the company! Still hard to walk away when some business is beckoning,
