Came across this great quote today:
A means to an end?
"The first great fact which emerges from our civilization is that today, almost everything has become "means". There is no longer an end; we do not know whither we are going. We have forgotten our collective "ends" and we posess great "means": we set huge machines in motion in order to arrive nowhere."
Jacques Ellul
I am not sure I completely agree with it but in general our collective capabilities do seem to be greater than the purposes to which we put those capabilities. Comments?
